I confess. Shortly after becoming a believer (1978), I was influenced by some “believers” who insisted that the Illuminati (literally “illuminated ones”) was a real threat for all Christians. They insisted that we be on our spiritual guard against this conspiracy organized to destroy Christianity. As I learned more about this supposed organization I was terrified and intrigued. So much so that all I did was research to find out if there was any truth about the matter.
During my fervor on the trail of this newly found obsession, just before I woke one morning, I heard a voice, as if audible, say three words to me. To this day I still hear these words resonating in my soul. They were “Worship me instead.” Immediately I was fully awake and knew that it was God who had spoken to me. Now, I’m not particularly charismatic so I knew that something really happened to me. Thankfully, I listened and immediately returned to my love for God’s Word and my obsession with myth was displaced by a passion for truth.
