Don’t miss this essay (scroll near page bottom) hosted at CBE’s Newsletter by John R. Kohlenberger III (ThB, Multnomah Bible College; MA, Western Seminary), author or co-editor of more than four dozen biblical reference books and study Bibles, including the awarding-winning NIV Exhaustive Concordance and The NIV Bible Commentary. Kohlenberger’s concludes:

I believe the 2011 NIV is a major improvement to the 1978/1984 NIV that incorporates the majority of the scholarly and gender language changes of the TNIV. I pray that it will be embraced by readers of the English Bible, egalitarian and hierarchicalists alike.

I echo your prayer, John!

  1. Thanks for the link Paul. It looks very good. As for his concluding prayer: “I pray that it will be embraced by readers of the English Bible, egalitarian and hierarchicalists alike.” If it happens–it will be an answer to prayer.

  2. Indeed it will be an answer to prayer. May the divide narrow and the bond across the camps become stronger!
