A while back I posted “Open Letter to Pastors and their Churches” and received not a few emails from a pastor who was guilty of the things I noted. Instead of listening to and reflecting on my concerns, they were entirely dismissed with arrogance. Sad.
Two very important posts went up recently about preaching that I think are worthy to consider. I only wish pastors would take heed.
Preachers!
Note to preachers: Do not say, “Well, I’m not a theologian” or make other self-deprecating remarks about your knowledge of the Bible. You should not do this because you are either (A) incompetent if the remark is true or (B) putting on humble airs if it is false. Preach the Bible, not your own feelings.
